General notes
This house when occupied by Mr T Gordon, JP, was known as Mount Cottage. It was built by the Forts. Richard Fort died here in 1854. The Forts previously resided at the White House on Bull bridge. The lane between Green Gates and Waterloo House, the former home of the Stansfields, was at one time a part of Milnshaw Lane. This was the old road to Whalley before the present road was constructed.
