Undated postcard, but probably pre-1914.
The same studio produced several similar photographs, usually featuring clogs and various work-related items. Sometimes cards were released with the same photograph but different captions.
The clogs are typical Lancashire clasp clogs, which were worn by men, women, and children throughout much of the nineteenth century, and well into the twentieth. In later years, different styles for different purposes - and ages and genders - became available, so people bought clogs with laces, buttons, and buckles instead of clasps as best suited them.
