General notes
'Old Mrs Talbot' is photographed in the horse-drawn carriage. One of the two men stood next to her is Norris Bretherton who owned the house from 1890. This photograph is taken outside the entrance of Runshaw Hall, a 19th-century country house in Runshaw Hall Lane, Euxton, Chorley, which is surrounded by parkland. Before and after the Second World War it was a run by the Brothers of Charity as a Residential Home for mentally challenged young men, after which it served as a restaurant in the 1970s. After a fire, the building was converted into apartments.
