This postcard of clogs falls into the 'holiday wind-ups' category. This seems strange nowadays, but a century or more ago people used to send them to holiday resorts where their friends and relations were staying during Wakes Week.

This one was posted from Manchester to Bridgend in 1910, but would have been sold throughout Lancashire and no doubt many were posted to Lancashire resorts during each town's wakes week.
