Skelmersdale Development Corporation initiated development within the New Town. The new road is Grimrod Place leading to Glebe Road at the top centre of the image. The road on the right is Gorsey Place. The road at the top of the photo (faced by houses) was the original road running through Skelmersdale and at that point was known as Wigan Road.
