User feedback: 'I don’t think this is Scale Hall Farm, Lancaster.

Comparing with the Red Rose Collections nla20180615045 (1926) image, the main, rightmost building is different.
The 1926 image has the main (rightmost) farmhouse with 2 chimneys - one at each gable end.

This 1940s image has 3 chimneys (one in the centre of the main house) and has a sloping (hip) roof on the side facing the camera, not a gable end.

There are buildings built to the left of (and seemingly attached to) the ‘main’ house and additional buildings forming a ‘quadrangle’ in this, the 1940s image.
True, buildings are erected and are demolished, but looking at the 1958 1:1250 OS Map (https://maps.nls.uk/view/210304060) the 1926 image matches the OS building footprint very closely.

It is unlikely that between 1926 and the 1940s quite substantial buildings would be erected/modified as in this 1940s image, and then demolished such that the 1958 OS map reflects what was essentially a return to the 1926 footprint of buildings.

There are several modern images of the front of the house as the ‘Tavern’, and they only have two chimneys, one at each gable end - as the 1926 image, not this 1940’s image.

Also, Morecambe Road at the top of the picture in the 1926 image seems to be more developed (wider, asphalt, footpaths) than the road at the top of this 1940s image - which seems the opposite to what would have happened since Morecambe Road was being developed in the 30s and 40s.

Lastly, there is a 1949 aerial photograph [Britain from above, EAW026054 ENGLAND (1949) https://www.britainfromabove.org.uk/en/image/EAW026054 ] of Scale Hall Farm (and Morecambe Road) in bottom left that matches Red Rose Collections nla20180615045 (1926) image, but not this one.

So, whilst I cannot tell you where this image is taken, I’m pretty sure it is not Scale Hall Farm, 1940s or otherwise.'
