Leading the civic procession celebrating Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, the carriage contained the Mayor Councillor Thursby, Mrs. Thursby, Miss Thursby and the Town Clerk, Mr. Fullalove en route to Towneley Hall on 22nd June 1897 for celebrations. It was a public holiday. On the left is part of the Wellington Arms Hotel, 2 Todmorden Rd. with distinctive window architecture.
