A young pilot was killed when his micro-lite plane broke up in mid air and crashed .... on the day he should have been taking his qualifying flying test. Heysham Power Station worker Ian Thomason, in his early twenties, of Orchard Close, Slyne, near Lancaster, was flying solo over Middleton Sands at Heysham when the tragedy happened.
