Notes with the photo indicate it may have been taken during the Morrells' stay in Burnley September/October 1913 as reported in the local press. Hollins was the home of Dowager Lady O'Hagan formerly of Towneley Hall. Lady Ottoline Cavendish-Bentinck half sister to the Duke of Portland, married Philip Morrell in 1902, they shared a love of the arts and Liberal, pacifist politics and famously had an open marriage . She had a very striking physical appearance, and wore eccentric, often self-designed clothes and was a famous literary hostess, close to the Bloomsbury Group. In 1928 cancer resulted in the removal of her lower teeth and part of her jaw. She had a stroke in 1937 and died in 1938 after being given an untested drug. She is commemorated by a Blue Plaque on their home 10 Gower St., London. Their daughter is Julian born in 1906 her twin brother Hugh died at two days.
