General notes

Known locally as "The Big Chimney" it was reputed to have been built to a much greater height than necessay in order to exceed that of the printing works at Barrow, the two companies being in some rivalry. Now demolished, it stood at the western end of the Coffin Lodge on Primrose Road. NOTE THAT THIS PHOTO HAS BEEN PRINTED WRONGLY. PRIMROSE ROAD BEHIND THE WALL SEEN ON THE LEFT SHOULD BE ON THE RIGHT.
