General notes

In this winter scene two embankments can be seen. The one in the foreground is for the Leeds and Liverpool Canal; further back is the railway embankment. The large property beyond the railway is identified as 'Beechcroft' on the 1st series 1:2500 Ordnance Survey map dated 1890. At the time it was the only property along that stretch on that side of Colne Road. The area between the embankments is now taken up by Reedley Marina.
