Photograph shows St John's Church Centre, Barkerhouse Road, Nelson. The original St John's church was built in 1848 and restored in 1896. 650 worshippers could be seated, but by the late 20th century the congregation had dwindled and the church was demolished. Joint services were held at St Philips until the new church was consecrated in May 2000, serving both parishes.
