General notes
Marsden Hall was built in the late 16th century by the Marsden family. The building was enlarged early in the 18th century and the grounds laid out early in the 19th century. The house was acquired by the Corporation in 1912, who demolished the 18th century wing and created a public park from grounds. Marsden Hall was converted to a restaurant in 1981, but only traded for a few years.
