The construction of the diversion of Reedyford Road to link it to junction 13 of the M65. In the trees on the right can be seen the buildings of Reedyford Memorial Hospital, which was demolished soon afterwards. Junction 13 was opened to traffic in 1983. The final section of motorway to Junction 14 was opened in 1988.
