General notes
Reedyford Hospital Gala was first held in 1933 to raise funds for the new hospital which was to be a memorial to those who lost their lives in the First World War. The hospital, funded by local donations, was built in 1932-35 and opened in 1937. The first post war gala was held in 1957. The 1959 gala featured a procession almost a mile in length. Reedyford Hospital closed in 1984 and was demolished to make way for the M65 motorway. The float is passing the branch of the Halifax Building Society which was at 102 Manchester Road, (now based in town centre).
