General notes
Looking east from the bus station multi-storey carpark towards Southfield. The mills in the centre of the photograph are Vale Street Mills. The original building was erected in 1886, with an extension added in 1907. Weaving ceased in 1970 with the building put to alternative uses. To the right of the mills can be seen the trees of Walverden Park, opened in 1900. Beyond the mills can be seen James Nelson's Sports Club, which was demolished in 2008.
