General notes

Walverden Reservoir was built in 1869, to provide water for the expanding town of Nelson. Within 10 years it proved insufficient for the towns needs and a new reservoir was built at Coldwell.
Just above the reservoir can be seen Thaw House. The housing shows the line of Barkerhouse Road leading up to Southfield Lane and the Shooter's Arms.
