General notes
Walverden Reservoir was built in 1869, to provide water for the expanding town of Nelson. Within 10 years it proved insufficient for the towns needs and a new reservoir was built at Coldwell.
The reservoir fishing rights are held by the Pendle, Burnley and District Anglers Association. They built the fisherman's hut and fishing platforms c1980, but due to vandalism the hut no longer exists.
