As part of the Centenary celebrations a fete was held in the town centre. The children's rides were outside the Arndale Centre (now Pendle Rise Shopping Centre), on Manchester Road. On the right of the photograph is the entrance to the indoor market. The retail unit on the left is now (2018) a bazaar.
