Title
Bandstand Victoria Park
General notes
The land for the original Victoria Park was puchased by Nelson Local Board from Mr Every-Clayton in 1886. Ten years later land on the western side of Pendle Water was purchased to extend the park. In 1912 a bandstand was erected on this 'new' area. For many years it offered a range of musical events and provided a centrepiece for the annual Nelson Show. Unfortunately it began to suffer from vandalism in the 1980's. After a decade of neglect, a three year renovation project between the council and the Friends of Victoria Park resulted in the bandstand reopening on 9th June 2006.
