General notes
Constructed 1867-69, Walverden Reservoir was part of the scheme to provide fresh water for Nelson by the new Local Board. This proved inadequate to meet rising demands for fresh water and new reservoirs were constructed at Coldwell and later Ogden Clough. The small buildiong in the centre of the photograph has now been demolished. In the background is Thaw House
