In 1901 the house was called Bankside and was the home of Caleb Duckworth, wholesale druggist, drysalter, fruit preserver, and maker of fruit cleaning machinery. By 1945 Colne Council Health Department had it's offices there. In 2011 Pendle Council took the decision to sell the property, as the offices of Pendle Leisure Trust had been relocated to Colne Town Hall.
