General notes
A full view of Waddington Old Hall that is mainly hidden from view today by trees. The greater part of the medieval building, dating back to the days when Henry VI took refuge there after the battle of Hexham in 1464, is still in existence. The original walls and windows with their great depth can still be seen in the Great Hall , adjoining hall and the Monks Room. Other rooms have been extended and a modern wing has been added, built in similar grey stone in keeping with the old building. We make historic images from our collections freely available online for people to enjoy and use in personal research. We are also committed to protecting people's privacy and complying with copyright legislation.

• When most historic photographs of people were taken, consent to publish online was not explicitly granted by them.

• The copyright status of photographs is often hard to establish, particularly when the photographer is not known and there is uncertainty about when the photograph was taken.
