General notes
The Almshouses were built at Kemple End on Longridge Fell by the Shireburne family for the people on their estate. They were moved from that isolated position to the centre of Hurst Green in 1947. They can be seen near the College gates in the village with the addition of a new top storey. There are seven bays with a three bay pediment and two-bay projecting wings, also with pediments. A fine balustrade connects the wings.
