General notes
It is probable that E.B. made use of the Settle Carlisle railway, opened in 1896 to access the places shown in the following 18 photographs.
The exact source of the Ribble is hard to determine, although the small beck from boggy ground below Ribblehead House to the south of Blea Moor Road and east of Ribble Head becomes a river some ten miles south at Selside.
