Creating the 'cut' - the channel taking water from the Ribble near Waddow Hall/Brungerley to power the Garnett's Low Moor cotton mill, a weir was completed across the breadth of the river. This image shows the water over the weir in full flow. The small tower housing the mechanisms to control access to the mill race can be seen in the background, suggesting this image was taken from the Waddington 'side' of the river.
