General notes
This image was apparently taken at an early stage of more substantial work on the river, and taken from Coe Hill (see the other images from the same site).
The weir was built to supply a 'cut' - a mill race required to power the cotton mill in Low Moor, Clitheroe. The Mill was owned by the Garnett family - who also were the owners of Waddow Hall around this time. The small tower on the right of the image held the winding gear that operated the sluices controlling the water flow into the 'cut'.
