General notes
Edmondson Buck can be excused for naming this building Gisburn Mill. It is the only building on the banks of the river, it is at the end of Mill Lane and is 80 meters up river from Gisburn Mill Bridge. The Mill was in fact some distance from the river, adjacent to the Lane and fed by a leat from a weir on the river to the east. Traces of the leat are visible. It was part of the Gisburn Park Estate and is shown on the first O.S. map which means it is pre 1853. The building on the photograph is The Gisburn Park Estate Dog Kennels.
