General notes
This four poster bed is elaborately carved as a prestigious possession from the Middle ages. It stands in the centre of the King's room.
Waddington is a village 2 miles n.w. of Clitheroe. The Old Hall is in the centre of the village.
The greater part of the medieval building is still in existence. Waddington hall was where King Henry VI took refuge after the great battle of Hexham in 1464; he was captured and died confined to the Tower of London.
