Lucy Thornber
On the 30th of June 1917, a fete was held for the comforts fund of the Primrose Bank Military Hospital, which raised nearly £600. Preceding the fete, there was a procession of 'old time characters' from the Cattle Market, through the town centre, up to the infirmary on Briercliffe Road. The girl in the centre is Lucy Thornber and she was chosen by the organisers to be the Rose Queen.
