General notes
These four small cottages were built in 1795 and were named after the small river that runs nearby. They remained in use until 1926, when, along with a number of other buildings in the area, they were demolished to make way for the expansion of Kiddrow Lane.

The river they were named after starts its journey on the moors, under the name of Sep Clough. However, the construction of the canal in the 1780's led to a small diversion in its course and a change of name at the point where it meets the canal at Gannow. The new name was Sweet Clough.
