General notes
This photograph shows the junction of Coal Clough Lane and Richmond Street in the mid-1950's. All of these buildings were constructed in the early 20th century, as the town expanded with the cotton boom. The building on the right was G. Burton's barber's shop. On the other side of Richmond Street was C. Heap's cooked meat shop.
