Steam tram number 16 and car number 15, pictured on Colne Road.

Steam trams were first introduced to the streets of Burnley in the 1880's in order to better connect the town with Padiham and Nelson. The trams had numerous reliability issues during their service and were replaced by electric trams in 1901.
