The photographer William Johnston appears in Dale Street in the 1911 Census aged 27.

Catherine Rothwell identifies this character as 'Nut Teddy'. "He was a local character who attended farms sales in the Garstang area&..He carried nuts and brandy snaps for sale in his basket&..Born in the 1870s, Teddy, a midget, was much teased by naughty boys who used to knock off his bowler hat."
