The old fire station on Manchester Road, bedecked in flags to mark the visit of the King in 1913. The fire station was built on this site c1854 and had many renovations made to it over the next century in order to accommodate the advances in technology. In the mid-1960's it was decided that a new facility was required and the fire service relocated to a new station on Belvedere Road.
