General notes

Burnley Market Hall opened on the 1st January 1870. The foundation stone had been laid four years earlier on the 25th October 1866. Unfortunately, the hall lasted less than a century, being demolished in 1966 during a major town centre re-development programme. This photograph shows the interior in the early 1960's.
