General notes

The Wood End treatment works, located on Wood End Road, were originally constructed in 1890. Since then, many alterations have taken place to improve the quality, efficiency and capacity of the works.

Alterations that took place in the early 1930's involved a complete remodelling of the site, which lead to the creation of facilities capable of using the Simplex Surface Aeration Process.
