Built in 1862 as a public hall on Elizabeth Street, this building has had a long and colourful history. It was used for many things, such as an assembly room, lecture hall, secular Sunday School, soup kitchen, theatre, swimming baths, town hall and a technical college. It is currently used as an accomodation centre for homeless people.
