General notes

This back-street was found at the rear of Westgate and Shaw Street. It was accessed from Hattersley Street. Due to its narrowness and tapering, it could not be accessed by carts or vehicular transport, hence the bollard. This must have proved problematic when coal was being delivered and deposited into the small holes seen in the back of the yards' walls.

These homes were demolished c1970 and have been replaced by commercial premises.
