General notes
Whip Street was one of a number of small streets located off Finsley Gate, which contained back-to-back houses. During the late 1920's and early 1930's these streets were demolished by Burnley Corporation as part of a slum clearance programme. The other streets in this area that were demolished were Finsley Alley, Top Street, Penny Street and Cooper Street.
The mill in the distance is Albion Mill, which belonged to the Clegg Brothers in the late 1920's.
