This is a view of Accrington Road, including Woodtop School, taken from the junction with Cog Lane.

This area developed in the mid to late 1800's, around the mills and local railway yard. Woodtop infant school was built in 1873 from sandstone rubble. It is a grade II listed property, but it has been vacant for a number of years, which has left it in a dilapidated state.
