General notes

Mr Henry Pratt Esq. J.P. lived at "Woodlands", a mansion overlooking the village. The entrance was then next the old church, although access is now possible from Woodlands Drive too.

It looks like this picture was taken standing in Bottoms Lane, looking across to the entrance. On the left appears to be part of the burial ground attached to the chapel, which was cleared when the new church was opened.
The copper beech in the centre of the picture survives today, and shows how the slides were created by adding colour on top of the glass plate- in this case, the copper beech looks a little flat and stands out, so Graystone Bird didn't always get it right!
