General notes

R. Hargreaves originally set up a tea dealership on St. James' Street in the 1870's. In the 1890's he opened a new office on St. Jame's Row (pictured here), under the name of R. Hargreaves & Sons. At this time he also opened an office in London. The business survived until the 1960's in its original shop on St. James' Street before the town centre was redeveloped.
