Here one can see the junction between Cog Lane and Coal Clough Lane, with the Gretna Green Hotel on the right hand side and Lane Ends Farm on the right. The hotel was originally set up in the 1870's on an old pack horse trail leading up Cog Lane. Shortly after this photograph was taken Cog Lane was widened.
