General notes
This Toll House was situated on the corner of, what are now, Rossendale Road and Cog Lane. The road on the left hand side was then called Sep Clough Lane (Rossendale Road) and the entrance to the property was on Smithy Hill (Cog Lane). The Greenwood family lived in the premises for a number of years and in the photograph Amos and Alice are pictured with their youngest son and his wife. The building was later purchased and demolished to widen Rossendale Road in the 1920's.
