General notes
The Wesleyan Methodist Chapel on Todmorden Road was opened in 1860. The church was 31m long, 18m wide and 12m high. Inside, seating was provided for 1,200 people. The total cost of construction, including the attached school, was £12,000.

After congregations decreased it was closed as a church in 1959. It later reopened as a kitchen and bathroom showrooms. Unfortunately, fire gutted the building in 1985. It then lay empty until it was demolished in 1992.

The building next door is Francis Ayrton's Fruit Shop, which opened c1895 and closed sometime in the late 1910's.
