This photograph of the Manchester Road and the Rose and Crown was taken near to the junction with Reynolds Street. In 1908 the land lord of the pub was a Mr. William Ormerod. At this time it only had a licence as a beer-house. The pub was rebuilt on the same site in 1914 and given a full licence, which was taken from the Neptune Inn. All the other houses on Manchester Road which can be seen in the photograph have since been demolished.
