The laying of tram tracks on Brunshaw Road. In the distance one can make out the junction with Yorkshire Street. The photographer most probably stood where the cricket ground adjoins the football ground.

The scheme to extend the tram system from the Wellington, by Turf Moor, up Stroyan Street only made it past the council by one vote. One of the main reasons for its construction was that it would enable people from all over Burnley to get to football matches with relative ease. However, only eight years later Burnley Corporation scrapped its tram system and invested heavily in buses.
