General notes
The construction of a Methodist church on Manchester road was envisioned in 1879 by Miss Barnes, who donated some land for the purpose. It wasn't until 1903 that a plan for the church was drawn up, as previously the population of the area hadn't warranted it. The church opened in 1905 and had been constructed in a neo gothic style, with a 120ft high spire.

By 1970 attendances at services were very low. It was agreed that the church would close and the congregation would merge with those of Westhill and Myrtle Bank. Demolition began in 1974 but the church tower and spire were spared as they were considered local landmarks. The site was later developed into retirement flats, the residents of which moved in in 1978.
