A very busy paddling pool in Thompson Park on a hot June day in 1930. Other activities include horse and cart rides and the boating lake.

Thompson Park opened on the 16th July 1930. It was funded by the Thompson bequest and designed by Arthur Race. It was more ornamental than Burnley's other parks, containing amongst other things, an Italian garden, a range of flower beds and the very popular boating lake.
